Fadhila Al Dhahouri started practising Islamic Geometric Art in 2019 as a means of healing from depression and anxiety, using it as a way to connect with the Oneness of Allah. After studying Islamic geometry with various schools Fadhila now teaches Islamic geometry and is dedicated to organising, uniting and empowering the Islamic Art community. She co-founded The Global Centre of Islamic Art alongside Sandy Kurt, aiming to make the transformative power she experienced through Islamic art accessible to people from all around the world.

Sandy Kurt is a Bosnian artist based in Italy. She started her journey in 2016 specialising in miniature geometry. Besides being an educator and surface pattern designer, she mentors and empowers future artists in setting up their own art businesses.

Bilal Badat is a specialist curator, archaeologist, and art historian of Islamic art and architecture. An expert in Haramayn material culture and calligraphy, he trained for five years under master Efdaluddin Kılıç, earning an ijazah in thuluth and naskh scripts. He previously lectured at St Andrews and Tübingen universities.

Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang is a world-renowned master of Chinese and Arabic calligraphy traditions. The first Chinese calligrapher to receive Egypt's Certificate of Arabic Calligraphy and an Ottoman Ijaza, his works sit in the British Museum and Harvard. He recently completed a monumental decade-long Chinese-style Mushaf.

London-based artist Mobeen Akhtar, creates work that reflects her admiration for Islamic Biomorphic design and Persian miniatures. Inspired by the intricately illuminated pages and manuscripts of the Quran and the vibrantly detailed Persian miniatures, she aims to practice the traditional methods so they may be recognised and applied today, as they were in the past.

Ceramic artist Paul Barchilon has been obsessed with Islamic Pattern since his childhood summers in Morocco. He has been working with ceramics for over forty years, and studied Islamic design all over the world. His tiles are found in homes throughout the US, as well as at the San Francisco Islamic Center.

First and foremost an educator, Clarissa’s passion is introducing beginner artists to the truly accessible art of geometry. She delights in sharing her ideas, materials, and techniques with others, and her background in mathematics teaching enables her to demonstrate and explain difficult concepts simply and clearly.

Dr Serap Ekizler Sönmez is an Assistant Professor at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University specializing in Islamic geometric patterns. With a PhD in History and a background in Chemistry, her research focuses on compass constructions and architectural history. She has authored several books and leads international educational programmes.I

Nagihan Seymour is a British-Turkish artist specializing in Tezhip, miniature painting, and Iznik ceramics. Based in Surrey, she draws on Istanbul's heritage, blending traditional motifs with modern elements. Her work, often featuring gold and intricate patterns, is exhibited widely across the UK.

Over twelve years, he has revived Moroccan heritage, judged the Al Burda Award, and won first place in both the Mohammed VI and Fujairah international ornamentation awards.

Hassan Khaled is an Egyptian traditional woodwork artisan and tutor exploring how heritage techniques can create new visual languages. His work spans traditional fretwork, wood inlay, and carving, with international experience ranging from workshops in Djibouti to a live demonstration at London’s V&A Museum, and training women artisans in an Aga Khan Award-winning project.

Ingrid Parrington is a Southern California glass artist who has studied pattern analysis and stained glass since 2018. Specialising in Islamic geometry, she expanded her practice into fused glass in 2025. Her work deeply explores the interaction of geometric forms, light, and depth of perspective.

Ahmet Faruk is an artist and educator specializing in urban sketching, Islamic architecture, and traditional cityscapes, with a focus on Istanbul. Through acclaimed paintings and workshops, he celebrates the harmony of Islamic architectural heritage, earning wide recognition for the depth and cultural resonance of his work.

Alefiya is a Karachi-based Traditional Islamic Artist. She holds a Fine Arts degree and PG diploma in Traditional Islamic Arts, securing 1st position in both. Working with natural pigments and shell gold, her work draws from Fatimid, Mamluk, Safavid, and Mughal heritage. Exhibitor and educator dedicated to reviving Islamic art.

Tasneem Afaneh is an art teacher and researcher dedicated to showcasing the brilliance of Islamic geometric patterns. She aims to document and preserve the decorative arts of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Through her teaching, she inspires students to value their cultural heritage and blend traditional artistry with modern innovation.

Mohamed Abu Zaid is a Moroccan calligrapher and graphic design professor specializing in Islamic ornamentation. He famously revived the 12th-century Almoravid Kufic script, through a seminal study, restoring this ancient heritage to the contemporary art scene and preserving Moroccan history.

Islam Ramadan El-Said is an Egyptian calligraphy artist and instructor with a Diploma in Arabic Calligraphy and over ten years of teaching experience. Holding a traditional, multi-script Ijaza, he specializes in seven cursive scripts. His award-winning work at the Cairo International Calligraphy Forum focuses on preserving classical calligraphy.

Farzana Razzaque is a University of Texas graduate and Ph.D. candidate researching South Asian calligraphy. Holding multiple teaching ijazahs in Thuluth, Naskh, Riq‘a, and Diwani scripts from world-renowned master calligraphers, she has dedicated over nine years to studying traditional Islamic calligraphy and tezhip (illumination).

Charlotte is passionate about the beauty that has endured across time and place in the form of biomorphic patterns and motifs. She explores the dialogue between precise geometric structure and freehand organic forms, drawing inspiration from the order in nature and the rich ornamental traditions of Persianate and Ottoman art.

Mohammad Abdul Aziz, born in London in 1991, is a scholar in Islamic sciences, theology, and jurisprudence. He's a Hafiz, a Master in Visual Islamic and Traditional Arts, and educates on traditional arts in London's Islamic faith schools.

Aziza Iqbal is a visual artist, surface design and pattern specialist based in Doha, Qatar. The quintessential maths nerd and pattern junkie, she thrives on symmetry, grids and details. Her work is fundamentally based on the harmony and symbolism in Islamic arts and crafts, particularly geometry and architecture of the Indian Subcontinent.

Ayten Tiryaki is a renowned Turkish master calligrapher and educator. She earned traditional diplomas (icazet) in illumination (Tezhip) and calligraphy (Hat) from legendary masters. Her award-winning artwork is held in international collections. Having taught for over twenty years, she continues to train future generations in these classical Islamic arts.

Bassem Zawdeh is a Lebanese architect, artist, educator, and researcher. Born in Istanbul in 1987, Zeynep mastered various calligraphy scripts and traditional illumination. An award-winning exhibitor, she teaches classes globally both online and in-person. She preserves cultural heritage by digitally adapting traditional Ottoman motifs, culminating in her published book on Istanbul tiles to pass these patterns to future generations.

Walada is a Spanish Muslim artist and educator specializing in Islamic traditional arts. Emerging from a family lineage of leather artisans, she blends her heritage with studies in sacred geometry and illumination. Badr Essaihi is a Moroccan calligrapher and researcher specialising in Maghrebi and Andalusian scripts. A graduate of the Académie des Arts Traditionnels with a Master’s in Islamic Arts, his practice combines manuscript studies, research, and teaching. Noha El Qahwagy is a distinguished Egyptian traditional artist and designer who specializes in traditional arts, specifically metal and brass crafts. A graduate with honors in Applied Arts, she furthered her expertise at the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo, where she currently serves as the Head of the Brass and Metal Department.

ZEYNEP GÜRSES is Turkish artist based in Istanbul. She began her artistic journey at a traditional Ebru studio in 2016. After six years of traditional training at Firdevs Çalkanoğlu's studio, she graduated in 2023 and received her certification. She continues to work as an assistant at the Ebru studio while pursuing her own artistic practice.

Ayat Dhahi is a Saudi metalsmith and jewelry designer blending cultural heritage with contemporary design. Holding an MA from SCAD and a traditional arts diploma from The King’s Foundation, she meticulously handcrafts silver jewelry and functional objects. Guided by refined techniques, her work reimagines traditional Islamic arts within a modern context.

Mariam Anwar is an Egyptian artist specializing in traditional decorative painting inspired by Islamic art and historical ornament. A graduate of Jameel House of Traditional Arts, Cairo, she creates handcrafted works on wood and copper using the traditional Egg Tempera technique, reinterpreting Mamluk, Ottoman, and Persian artistic heritage through a contemporary artistic vision.
