Nagihan Seymour is a British-Turkish artist specialising in Tezhip, miniature painting, and Iznik ceramics. She draws on Istanbul's heritage, blending traditional motifs with modern elements. Her workshop showcases the floral inventions of 15th century Head Artist of the Ottoman Palace, Karamemi, where you will learn semi stylized hyacinth, tulip and rose motifs combining with Tezhip motifs such as "penc" and "yaprak".

Aslam Qureshi is a self-taught creative designer and digital artist passionate about Islamic and geometric patterns. Through research and experimentation, he develops distinctive designs rooted in mathematics, art, and architecture, reflecting his dedication to preserving heritage while innovating contemporary aesthetics.

In his session, he will teach how you can deconstruct geometric patterns you find in the world, so you can learn to re-create and re-construct them in your own time.

Jerusalem-based artist and researcher, Tasneem has dedicated her artistic career to an analytical documentation of all the geometric patterns that adorn the Al-Aqsa compound.

In her workshop, we will take an artistic journey inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, exploring the beauty of its decorative plaster windows and drawing one of its architectural masterpieces together to reveal the secret of the balance between light and decoration in Islamic art.

Mohammed Abu Zaid is a Moroccan calligrapher, visual artist and professor of graphic design, specialising in Moroccan Kufic script and Islamic ornamentation whose works are published by the Center for Islamic Arts in Kuwait.  

Alongside a short historical presentation, this workshop will be a practical educational workshop in which participants will learn about Almoravid Kufic script, including its structural proportions, unit of measurement, and letter balance in wirting the Arabic word for "peace".

Ceramic artist Paul Barchilon, is a master in both Islamic Geometric Design, which he has 30 years experience, and producing ceramics, having 40 years experience.

In his session, you will learn how to transfer Islamic patterns onto ceramic plates and bowls using plaster molds. This will be a demonstration of Paul’s techniques, and can serve as a launching point for further study. Basic and advanced techniques will be demonstrated, and questions will be answered live.

Kareemgraphy is a calligraffiti artist blending calligraphy and graffiti. He’s worked on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Dubai World Cup 2024, and performed in cities across the Middle East, Asia, and India. In his session, Kareemgrahy will present how the beauty of Arabic calligraphy can impact hearts and minds at scale followed by an exclusive artistic live demonstration.

An passionate educator, Clarissa delights in introducing beginners to geometry through her background of mathematics. In her session we will draw together a simple Islamic pattern before learning how to bring it to life with geometric paper embroidery in a way that you've never seen before.

Fouad is Professor, Researcher and Artist of Maghribi-Andalusian Ornamentation at Al-Qarawiyyin University, Fez. In his workshop offers a theoretical introduction to Maghribi-Andalusian style floral ornamentation.

Participants will then take part in a hands-on session, creating a simple design that illustrates the various stages of floral ornamentation — from initial sketching and gilding to outlining and coloring.

Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang is a world-renowned master of Arabic calligraphy whose work uniquely fuses Chinese and Arabic artistic traditions. In 1997, he became the first Chinese calligrapher awarded the prestigious Certificate of Arabic Calligraphy in Egypt, and in 2017 received an Ijaza from leading Ottoman calligraphy masters in Istanbul.

In his session, he will provide an introduction and historical details of how Chinese Muslim recoded the Holy Quran through Chinese style Arabic scripts with a look at the tools, followed by a live demonstration of how to write the script.

Mariam Ashraf is an Artisan & Researcher that is passionately reviving the heritage of gypsum through contemporary practice. Through her brand Moma, Mariam is dedicated to reintroducing gypsum as a living craft — offering workshops, talks, and creative demonstrations that merge Islamic geometry, floral motifs, and everyday materials into timeless expressions.

In her workshop, she will demonstrate a practical application of Islamic biomorphic floral design carved in gypsum.

Professor Mirosław Majewski is a former Professor of the New York Institute of Technology, who has researched the geometry of art for many year. Author of numerous books and publications, and designer of many geometric patterns, including some that are entirely new. He now teaches geometric patterns at the Istanbul Design Center for over ten years.

His session will be a journey through Anatolia, Turkey. Exploring Anatolian architecture and Seljuk techniques with brief demonstration of constructions of Seljuk patterns.

Nihad Taisir is a Creative Director and Digital Calligraphy Expert based in the UAE, specialising in Arabic branding and design with over 20 experience in combining cultural depth, strategic thinking and digital tools to create brands and designs that resonate across markets with leading and global institutions.

In this workshop he will walk you through his step-by-step design approach, from initial research and cultural inspiration to concept sketches and digital refinement, evolving into modern logos, type-based identities, or broader brand systems that serve as a foundation for strong brand identities.

Mobeen Akhtar is a London-based artist who seamlessly blends traditional Islamic art with contemporary expressions. Drawing deep inspiration from the intricate beauty of Persian miniatures, particularly from Ferdowsi's Shahnameh.

In her workshop, Mobeen will show her step-by-step process of taking real birds and transform them into stylised miniature birds, then transferring the drawing on to final paper, ready for painting.

Mohamad Ismail Al Janabi is a master artist, and author celebrated for his lifelong dedication to Islamic Geometric Art. He founded the online Islamic Geometric Pattern School, pioneering platforms that have nurtured a worldwide community of learners and practitioners.

As the author of the Encyclopedia of Islamic Geometric Patterns, a landmark reference that reflects his mastery and scholarly contribution to the field, in which you will get an exclusive and comprehensive sneak peak during his session.

Joumana Medlej is an artist-scholar from Lebanon. She found Kufi scripts, assisting master Samir Sayegh in his Beirut studio, later spending nearly 20 years studying and reconstructing misunderstood scripts of early Arabic calligraphy. She teaches Kufi calligraphy at the Arab British Centre and has lectured at Stanford University, Oxford, Cambridge, the Gulbenkian Foundation and other institutions.

Based on 2 decades of research and practice, her session will reset in our understanding of Kufi. She’ll describe how this tradition came to be, how it differs from the later round scripts, what makes it a coherent family despite its immense diversity, sharing general principles and how it can be a strong basis for contemporary creation.

Şeyma Çınar is an Tezhip Art Master receiving official approval from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye to teach Tezhip Art, Miniature art and biomorphic drawing. For 25 years, she has taught Turkish Tezhip locally and internationally, in-person and later online in Turkish and English translation to preserve it's originality, unique subtleties and beauty to a wider audiences

In her workshop, Seyma will show you how to draw a traditional Rumi pattern and later adorning it with traditional styled flowers.

Mohammad Abdul Aziz is a scholar in Islamic sciences, theology, and jurisprudence. He's a Hafiz, a Master in Visual Islamic and Traditional Arts, and educates on traditional arts in London's Islamic faith schools.

His session will be a visual and contextual workshop and demonstration into the golden ratio, how nature using this ratio and how historical traditional architecture has shaped itself through it all.

Farzana Razzaque is a highly accomplished artist who has dedicated her study to Islamic calligraphy and Tezhip for over 9 years. Farzana Hoca holds ijazah (authorisations to teach) in Thuluth and Naskh scripts by Master Haji Noor Deen and ijazah in Riq‘a, Diwani and Diwani Jali scripts from Master Shahrayanshah Sirajuddin. In addition, she studies Tezhip under Master Artists Fatma Ulusoy Sirajuddin and Ayşe Gülcan Özbalak.

In her session, she will give a special demonstration and introduction to the traditional and elegant Riq'a script.

Lieve is a Geometry Artist from the Netherlands and has been pursuing Islamic geometry since 2019. During her artistic journey, she pursued a variety of different printing techniques such as etching, lino and woodblock printing which she has since then combined with the passion for Islamic geometry.

In her session, she will give a demonstration on how to create block printing stamps from simple shapes that can be used to print complex patterns on paper. After the demonstration, you will have learned how to print 3 different patterns from the Alhambra using block printing techniques.

Born in Holland in 1976, Deniz Öktem Bektaş is an accomplished multi-award winning Turkish calligrapher and educator. She teaches calligraphy at Boğaziçi University, conducts international workshops and furthers her artistic practice.

In her session, Deniz will explore the treasures of the art of calligraphy. Where are the masterpieces of Islamic Calligraphy found? How did the Ottoman Empire contribute to the development of the art and how did it manage to reach far away places across the world with the artworks of Ottoman masters?

Eli has grown up living the cultural and historical heritage of her city, Granada. Contemplating the beautiful tiles of the Alhambra and its colorful geometry. Her work as an artist is the result of the union of her passion for this Islamic geometric ancient art and watercolor.

She will provide step-by-step workshop beginning with drawing a simple, beginner friendly pattern and teaching you her painting techniques that made her Instagram global.

A self-taught paper artist and engineer, with a strong tendency to create large scale quilling and 3D geometrical artworks along with other mediums.

In her workshop, Zahra will be showing you how to hunt for mineral pigments from the earth wherever you are in the world, briefly explaining the process of making paints, deep diving into the tools and the chemistry. No experience needed and very beginner friendly. You will be given a list of materials and also alternatives.

Shadiya Mohammed is a full-time artist who specialises in Islamic illumination, also known as Tezhip. She takes a hands-on approach in every step of her creativity, from preparing paper to grinding pigments. Her lifelong passion stems from her early fascination with Islamic art and geometry in which she continuous draws inspiration.

In her session she will teach you how to draw traditional Mughal flowers inspired by the Taj Mahal, followed by how to paint them according to this incredible artistic tradition.

Tuba Genç was born in Istanbul and is an Environmental Engineer. Having held various project management positions in academic and private sectors, her artistic journey began in 2015 at the Istanbul Design Center, and later, traditional analysis of geometric patterns under Mohamad Al Janabi. In 2022, she received her ijazah, completing her Master thesis at Marmara University, Department of Turkish-Islamic History and Arts.

In her workshop, she will show you to construct a 5-fold geometric pattern taken from the Qisas al-Yûshâ in Aya Sofia.

Egyptian Islamic Geometric Artist and Graphic Designer who is passionate about preserving and promoting the rich artistic traditions of Islamic Design and unveiling the mesmerizing symmetries and harmonies of geometric patterns through modern applications.

His session will be a focused on the 12 and 6-point rosette motif from the Sultan al-Ghuri minbar in Cairo. After a short theoretical introduction to rosettes and star-combinations, we’ll build the pattern step-by-step using one consistent geometric workflow,  the same method can be applied by hand and with digital drafting - so participants master a single process that works across tools.
